Employee Benefits don’t just benefit employees – employers can save up to £3.12 for every £1 spent on benefits, recent research showed. So it makes good sense to shout about the benefits you offer from time to time. This ensures that your employees know what’s available to them and aren’t missing out on ways to save money and enhance their lives.
A great way to keep benefits in your employees’ line of sight is to tie them into national awareness days when they come around. It gives your organisation a good excuse to get into the swing of marking awareness days, which can also help with team building.
And it can remind your staff of a benefit they could be missing out on. Let’s take a look at some key dates in the calendar that are related to popular benefits we offer.
August: Cycle to Work Day
The Cycle to Work scheme is an employee benefit that lets staff members save serious cash on the purchase of bicycles and equipment.
When they use the scheme, employees can make savings of up to 47% on a bike they buy for commuting, as well as on some of the equipment too. At the same time, they can also save on commuting costs while getting healthier at the same time.
This year, Cycle to Work Day is celebrating its 10th anniversary on 4 August 2023. Employees who take part can log in on the associated Love to Ride website and record their ride on the day, setting goals and sharing photos or experiences.
Find out more on the Cycle to Work Day website. And take a look at the Cycle to Work Scheme if you’d like to add it to the benefits that you offer.

October: World Mental Health Day
We’re very proud of the Wellbeing Programme that we offer at Enjoy Benefits.
It offers employees access to a range of videos and fact sheets to help them with their emotional and physical wellbeing. The programme addresses these key areas:
- Sleep
- Finances
- Emotional agility
- Nutrition
- Mental Health Awareness
The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health. This year it’s being marked on 10 October 2023.
The day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
Promoting the Wellness Programme available to staff on World Mental Health Day shows that you care about your employees’ wellbeing and support the aims of this important awareness day.

Free Wills Months
Free Wills Month is a fundraising campaign offering those aged 55 and over the chance to have a will written or updated for free. Instead of paying a solicitor fee, you are invited to donate to charity.
Free Wills Month takes place in March and October and involves hundreds of solicitors in the UK. It also involves charities such as Marie Curie, Age UK, Dogs Trust and Diabetes UK.
Will Aid also takes place every November for people of all ages to have a will written for free, again in conjunction with charities.
At Enjoy Benefits, our Will Benefit allows employees to make a will through an experienced service provider and spread the cost over 12 months.
Making a will is traditionally something that people put off, so highlighting this valuable benefit during Free Wills months, or tying it in with Will Aid in November, will encourage employees to get their will written and get peace of mind that their affairs are in order.

November: Talk Money Week
Finances can have a huge impact on our wellbeing and mental health, which is why it’s one of the areas that is covered in our Enjoy Benefits Wellbeing Programme.
Talk Money Week encourages people to have more open conversations about their money. This year’s Talk Money Week on 6-10 November will focus on the theme of ‘credit’. It aims to help demystify some of the jargon around credit, build people’s understanding of credit products, and what their options are, including other forms of support that might be suitable.
You can download the participation pack on the Talk Money Week website for ways to kickstart conversations about money in the workplace. It’s the perfect time to promote the financial wellbeing support you provide, such as employee assistance programmes, workplace pensions, childcare vouchers or cycle-to-work loans.
